The University of Texas at El Paso made its formal proposal to the county requesting a bond worth $99 million in debt be sent to voters to improve the Sun Bowl. UTEP officials say the money would be used to improve the facility to attract large entertainment attractions.

Former county commissioner Vince Perez is set to become the next state representative for Texas’ House District 77. The position represents a large portion of the Lower Valley, Central, Downtown and the West Side.
