Fire Chief John Killings on the El Paso Fire Department

elpasotexas.gov/fire-department

In this edition of El Paso Prime time, Richard Dayoub, from Thunderbird Management, is joined in the studio by Fire Department Chief John Killings to talk about his experiences in the service, the challenges that stations face, and future plans for the Department. For 26 years, Chief John Killings has been a part of the Fire Department. Although it wasn’t his plan to be a part of the Fire Department, John Killings found that he liked to serve the community and help save lives, which led him to apply to become a part of the service.

The El Paso Fire Department is a full-service fire department. They respond to all calls involving fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials, and other emergency events in the City of El Paso. Specialized teams respond to water, mountain, and technical rescues. Jonathan Killings was appointed Fire Chief for the El Paso Fire Department in December of 2022. Chief Killings has served his community as a member of the El Paso Fire Department since August of 1998, and as a Chief Officer since his promotion to Battalion Chief in 2016.
