Travel Songs

In this week's episode of Frontera Frequencies, hosts Roberto Avant-Mier and Ale Seañez discuss songs centered on the theme of travel. In this episode they present tracks that explore the journey of tarveling with references to transportation, distance, and meetings, including songs such as Roy Orbison's "I Drove All Night," the Black Eyed Peas' "Meet Me Halfway," and Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea."

Additionally, in the Miner Music Minute segment features Anthropology student Robert Rodriguez, highlighting the song "People Get Up and Drive Your Funky Soul" by James Brown.

Roberto Avant-Mier (PhD, University of Utah) is an Associate Professor and Research Fellow in the Department of Communication at The University of Texas at El Paso, and he is also affiliated faculty in Chicano Studies at UTEP. <br/>
Ale Seanez is a graduate student and MTA who recently earned her degree in Communication. She is passionate about exploring how media, culture, border identity, and storytelling intersect, and plans to pursue a PhD after completing graduate school.
Martín Leon is a producer at KTEP, editing, and assembling radio shows for the station.
Ava Elder is in charge of being an on air board operator and producing shows like Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, Travel With Rick Steves, and others. Ava provides detailed weather and traffic updates, and makes sure each broadcast she is in charge of goes smoothly so that listeners can enjoy what they are hearing.
