Backyard Tomato Gardens

Texas A&M Agrilife Extension

On this week’s show, Denise, John and Jan offer tips on growing tomato gardens within your backyard and how to care for them. As we are approaching the end of the frost date and the temperatures start to rise up, it is a perfect time to start growing your own tomatoes in your garden and we’ll show you how to carefully grow them, the difference between determinate and indeterminate tomatoes, indoor and outdoor gardening, garden hacks and more. Denise will also provide more updates and information on the El Paso County Master Gardeners programs that will be available for anyone to attend.

The El Paso County Master Gardeners program was the first within the state of Texas and started in 1981. The program, along with other counties within the state has a statewide, nonprofit organization called the Texas Master Gardener Association that formed in 1991. Today, there are over 6,000 Texas Master Gardeners based in 112 counties and volunteers contribute over 400,000 hours of time and talent to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
