Water Conservation for Vegetable Gardening

Laura McKenzie
/
Texas A&M AgriLife

On this week’s show, Denise and Jan offer tips on how to conserve your water usage when planting vegetables in your garden. As tomato planting season is starting up soon, we will be discussing different ways to reduce water usage and keeping your soil and vegetables healthy as they grow within this desert climate, even going over the importance of sprinkler systems checkup, adding compost soil, early tomato planting, etc. Denise will also provide more updates and information on the El Paso County Master Gardeners programs that will be available for anyone to attend.

Started by John White, the El Paso County Master Gardeners has been in operation since 1981. The El Paso County program also has an association that regularly meets and provides opportunities for learning and leadership. Master Gardener projects can vary too, such as answering homeowner questions, classroom gardening at schools, speakers, community and demonstrating gardens and informational booths
