The Long Game

An inspirational film set in Del Rio Texas opened in local theaters with a story that should resonate with the Borderland. A new Feature Film The Long Game, tells an inspiring true story about five Mexican American high school students who start a golf team and go all the way to the Texas State Championship in 1957, overcoming prejudice and personal obstacles along the way. On this edition of On Film, host Charles Horak welcomes Executive Producer Christian Sosa to talk about the story behind the film.

Charles Horak didn't sleep much as a child, preferring instead to watch movies on late night TV. Not much has changed since then, except that he now shares his life-long passion for movies with others. Horak's association with On Film began in the summer of 2002 when he was interviewed by the show's originator, Cynthia Haines. In the summer of 2005, Horak took over for Haines as host of the show.
Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
