Mesilla Valley Film Society

mesillavellyfilm.org

The Fountain Theatre in Old Mesilla may be over a century old, but its film programming is the most vital and up to date in any film theatre in the borderland. The historic adobe Fountain Theatre is home to the Mesilla Valley Film Society and its group of volunteers and members continue to sustain the area's only arthouse cinema. In this edition of On Film, host Charles Horak welcomes once again Carol McCall, Program Director for the Mesilla Valley Film Society to discuss the Theatre's upcoming screenings and special events.

The Fountain Theatre in old Mesilla has been a historic venue for most of the last century. It has offered movies and more to intrepid viewers since 1905 and is still the region's best arthouse cinema. The Mesilla Valley Film Society and its volunteers have been fierce protectors of the theater for decades and continue to offer contemporary arthouse, foreign language, and repertory film screenings.

Charles Horak didn't sleep much as a child, preferring instead to watch movies on late night TV. Not much has changed since then, except that he now shares his life-long passion for movies with others. Horak's association with On Film began in the summer of 2002 when he was interviewed by the show's originator, Cynthia Haines. In the summer of 2005, Horak took over for Haines as host of the show.
