/

Movies are being made everywhere these days and filmmakers have a lot of options where to set down roots. A new listing of best places for movie makers to live and work helps shine a light on some unique locals including El Paso and Las Cruces. MovieMaker Magazine has recently published a list of the best places to live and work as a movie maker in 2025. And joining in to discuss the list and El Paso’s and Las Cruce’s rankings is Journalist and Co-Owner of Moviemaker Magazine Tim Molloy.

MovieMaker Magazine is based in Hollywood, and it is published by Deirdre McCarrick and edited by Tim Molloy, a married couple who share their love for movies. Made for everyone who loves moviemaking, the magazine focuses on the art and craft of movies and cinematic TV, offering insider tips about what to watch or create.

Charles Horak didn't sleep much as a child, preferring instead to watch movies on late night TV. Not much has changed since then, except that he now shares his life-long passion for movies with others. Horak's association with On Film began in the summer of 2002 when he was interviewed by the show's originator, Cynthia Haines. In the summer of 2005, Horak took over for Haines as host of the show.
Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
