In this edition of On Film, host Carlos de la Torre welcomes Jaquelina Barragan, Co-Director od Femme Frontera to talk about the Femme Frontera touring showcase, which will be making a stop in El Paso. They will talk about the intention behind curating the showcase, the importance of showcasing latina women and gender expansive firlmmakers, and stories that are hardly heard in conventional media.
The Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase is an annual film festival held in El Paso, Texas, which celebrates short films made by women and gender-expansive filmmakers from border regions around the world. Created in 2016, the festival is headed by women and gender-expansive filmmakers from the U.S.-Mexico border region. In 2018, the Showcase was listed as one of the top film festivals for female filmmakers.
