On this week’s episode of We Are UT, Keith Pannell sits down with Raymond Rumpf, who is part of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering here at the University of Texas at El Paso. The pair discuss Raymond’s life growing up in rural Pennsylvania where he would spend most of his childhood fishing, and hiking, but nothing technical. After a video game sparked an interest in electrical engineering, Raymond began dedicating his life to his passion. Fresh off earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Florida Tech, Raymond received his PhD in Optics from the University of Central Florida.
Raymond has now become a pioneer in electromagnetics, photonics, and 3D printing through EMLab, the lab he founded here at UTEP. On this week’s episode of We Are UT, Dr. Keith Pannell learns about Dr. Raymond Rumpf’s struggle to find his passion as well as his goals to innovate within his field.
