Borderland filmmakers are continually honing their skills producing short films and features that make their way into the world and are calling cards for the local talent and region. One borderland writer and director is seeking producing help for his latest short film. In this edition of On Film, host Charles Horak welcomes writer, director, and filmmaker Andrew Jara to discuss the production of his new short film "Followed", a slasher film inspired by a real life stalker event.

Born and raised in El Paso, TX, Writer/Director Andrew Jara is a Latino filmmaker. Andrew has made three feature films so far and is always interested in pursuing real themes and situations while also bringing more voices to film. Andrew's features and shorts have played festivals all over the world as well as on multiple streaming services. His latest feature, The Empty Space, a cosmic horror about mental illness won the "Best of the Fest" award at the Sacramento Horror Film Festival.

Charles Horak didn't sleep much as a child, preferring instead to watch movies on late night TV. Not much has changed since then, except that he now shares his life-long passion for movies with others. Horak's association with On Film began in the summer of 2002 when he was interviewed by the show's originator, Cynthia Haines. In the summer of 2005, Horak took over for Haines as host of the show.
Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
