The film industry has usually set a pretty high bar for filmmakers to clear when it came to the technology and gear required to make a film. The book, "Smartphone Cinema: Making Great Films with your Mobile Phone," argues and provides the training needed to make films with your phone. In this edition of On Film, host Charles Horak welcomes Bart Weiss, filmmaker and film professor, to talk about his book and the latest filmmaking tool in for new aspiring filmmakers their mobile phones.

Since 2004, Charles Horak has been the host of the long-running radio program, On Film, creating more than 1,000 programs dedicated to film reviews, filmmaker interviews and discussions of cinema history and industry advancement. He is a voting member of the Critics Choice Association and board member of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image.

Sam Cassiano

Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
