Tower Production's 10th Anniversary

There's no doubt that the borderland region’s filmmaking community is growing and maturing, and a special event next week celebrates one of El Paso's most organized production companies. In the spring of 2016, several friends and film lovers decided to start a film company together, and Tower Productions was born.

Now 10 years in, they've grown in numbers, and their work has grown in quality and scope next week. They'll get a big plaza theater welcome as they celebrate 10 years of work and life with a special evening of discussions and film screenings. Join this edition of On Film with host Charles Horak in the company of all three of Tower Productions’ original co-founders, Austin Young, Eric Sanchez, and Carlos De La Torre.

Additonal Information/Links

This program originally aired on July 4, 2026.

Charles Horak didn't sleep much as a child, preferring instead to watch movies on late night TV. Not much has changed since then, except that he now shares his life-long passion for movies with others. Horak's association with On Film began in the summer of 2002 when he was interviewed by the show's originator, Cynthia Haines. In the summer of 2005, Horak took over for Haines as host of the show.
Sam Cassiano is a native Californian who spent his formative years in the Bay Area. An army brat, his family toured Germany and Japan before settling in El Paso in 1973. Initially a Communications Major at UTEP, a radio internship at KPAS-FM 94, the PASS launched his broadcasting career. He can be heard as the morning news anchor on KTEP during NPR's Morning Edition, and Friday evenings at 10 pm as the host of Friday Night Blues.
