KTEP's Charlize Mercado welcomes to the KTEP studios Senior Coordinator of the Center for Community Engagement, Heriberto Garcia, and student worker Jenna Munoz to talk about their Raise Your Pick Giving Day Initiatives.
The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) connects the University's resources with community needs, fostering healthy and mutually beneficial relationships with local partners. We support community-based internship initiatives, civic engagement efforts like voter education, and faculty partnership development. Their programs, such as the Community Engagement Courses and the Community Work-Study Mentorship and Internship Program, allow students to collaborate with local nonprofit organizations to fulfill academic requirements. This gives them the chance to apply and enhance the professional skills they are learning through their degree programs while also contributing to the support of local nonprofits.
Donations help fund the Community Work-Study Mentorship and Internship program, which provides students with the opportunity to work at local nonprofits, gaining job skills while making a difference.
