On this week’s Good to Grow, hosts Denise and Jan will talk about Mother’s Day and how to navigate some gifts for those gardener mom’s who we love and appreciate with all our hearts. Everything from bouquets, to flora and fauna jewelry, gardener’s books, to the gift of quality time at the garden can be excellent gifts for this Mother’s Day. Time spent outdoors is never wasted, help your mom plant and rearrange her gardening space during her special day.
Pro Tip: Trim stems at a 45% degree angle for those flower bouquets to give to allow water to come up through the stems to prolong the cut-flower’s life span. Also, trim off any leaves from the stems to keep the water of your vase fresh and thus prolong the life-span of your flowers.
The El Paso County Master Gardeners started in 1981 and has been growing with many volunteers and Master Gardeners ever since. The love of gardening and search for knowledge are primary reasons people join the program to become trained and certified Master Gardeners. Texas Master Gardeners are united in name, but the program’s strength lies in its ability to meet the diverse needs of the communities it serves.
This program originally aired on May 9, 2026.
