On this week’s episode of Science Studio, Dr. Keith Pannell sits down with Dr. Sreeprasad T. Screenivasan, Dr. Dino Villagran, and Dr. Chad Hoyerto to discuss the newly awarded Nobel Prize winners in chemistry (Dr. Susumu Kitagawa, Dr. Richard Robson, and Dr. Omar M. Yaghi) and the groundbreaking research which won this year's Nobel Prize: Metal-Organic Framworks (MOFs).
Dr. Sreeprasad T. Sreenivasan is a Chemistry and Biochemistry associate professor at the University of Texas at El Paso who received his BS and MS at Mahatma Gandhi University for Chemistry and his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Madrasin in Chemistry. His research interests are typically centered around materials science and nanotechnology. He focuses on creating quantum structures, engineering their properties, and applying their modulated properties for security, energy, and sustainability-related applications.
Dr. Dino Villagran is a Chemistry and Biochemistry professor at the University of Texas at El Paso who received both his BS and MS at the University of Texas at El Paso and his PhD at Texas A&M University. His research group interests fall into the areas of physical inorganic chemistry with primary emphasis on multielectron redox chemistry.
Dr. Chad Hoyerto is a Chemistry and Biochemistry assistant professor at the University of Texas at El Paso who received his PhD in Chemical Physicsat the Univerisity of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He loves to understand electronic-structure methods and develop new ones to help experimentalists understand problems.
