El Paso Holocaust Museum & Study Center is excited to announce the opening of a special exhibit, "The Anguish of Liberation as Reflected in Art." This collection is based on works from the Yad Vashem Art Collection," which were created between the years 1945 - 1947 by Holocaust survivor-artists. For survivors, liberation from the horrors of the Holocaust meant freedom from oppression and atrocities. But emotions of joy and relief were mixed with anguish and grief, as many survivors discovered their families, friends, and communities had been destroyed. Many expressed these mixed emotions through art that continues to bear witness to their stories and life after the Holocaust. Special Exhibit Opening for Museum Members: Thursday, May 9th, 6:00 PM. The exhibit will open to the public on May 10th and will run through July 5th. There is no charge to attend.
