Keith Akers talks about simple living to help the environment

compassionatespirit.com

During the holidays we can sometimes lose track of the true meaning of the season and get caught up in buying gifts and foods that contribute significantly to deforestation, soil erosion, habitat destruction, climate change, and more. On Animal Concerns of Texas, Liz and Tom talk with writer Keith Akers about vegetarianism in early Christianity, how Jesus Christ sought to extend compassion towards all living beings, and how living more simply will allow us to better protect wildlife, the human population, and the planet we share.

Keith Akers is a writer and activist. He has published four books. He’s been involved with various vegetarian or vegan groups for the past four decades, including the Vegetarian Society of D. C. (where he served as President), the Vegetarian Society of Colorado (where he also served as President), and the International Vegetarian Union (where he served as Regional Secretary for North America).
